About The Position

Reporting to the Inspector, Recruitment and Engagement, the Staff Sergeant, Recruitment provides leadership and oversight for ASPS Recruitment operations. This position supervises operational personnel, coordinates daily activities and resources, manages performance and compliance, and ensures effective service delivery in accordance with legislation, Provincial Policing Standards, and ASPS policies. The role supports operational readiness, personnel development, and the continued growth of ASPS as an independent Crown corporation.

Requirements

  • Eligible for appointment as a Police Officer in the Province of Alberta in accordance with the Police Act (Alberta).
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications and maintain fitness for duty.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of police officer authorities and legislative requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise Sergeants and operational personnel within the Recruitment section.
  • Coordinate daily operations, staffing, workload distribution, and resource deployment.
  • Monitor operational performance, service quality, and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Conduct performance management, coaching, and professional development activities.
  • Provide operational direction and decision-making support during complex situations.
  • Manage reporting, documentation, and accountability requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal units, Human Resources, and external partners as required.
  • Support scheduling, resource allocation, and budget administration activities.
  • Communicate operational priorities, updates, and organizational information to staff.
  • Maintain operational readiness and promote professional standards and organizational values.
