About The Position

This position is for a Staff Registered Nurse in Preop/PACU, requiring a commitment to on-call shifts, including one on-call weekend every 14 weeks and one 12-hour holiday on-call shift. The role involves providing general nursing care to patients and families across diverse, acute healthcare settings, with the department operating 24/7/365. The RN is responsible for practicing nursing as defined by the Ohio Board of Nursing, delegating tasks to LPNs and UAPs according to the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, and providing professional nursing care services based on department policies and nursing care standards. Key responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for assigned patients. As a High Reliability Organization (HRO), the role emphasizes safety, quality, and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree: Nursing (Required)
  • BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Ohio Board of Nursing
  • Current Registered Nurse license from the State of Ohio and/or current Registered Nurse license in good standing with a multi-state compact state.
  • BLS certification
  • BSN required at 5 years of employment
  • Commit to on-call shifts (one weekend every 14 weeks and one 12hr holiday shift)
  • Must have recent RN experience in Pre-op/PACU, ED or ICU

Responsibilities

  • Commit to on-call shifts, including one on-call weekend every 14 weeks and one 12hr holiday on call shift.
  • Provide general nursing care to patients and families throughout the continuum of care in diverse, acute health care settings.
  • Be accountable for the practice of nursing as defined by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
  • Delegate nursing tasks to licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and unlicensed assistive personnel (UAPs) using the criteria written in the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.
  • Provide professional nursing care services to patients according to department policies and nursing care standards.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care provided to assigned patients.
  • Perform initial, ongoing, and functional health status assessment as applicable to the population and or individual.
  • Based on nursing diagnoses and collaborative problems, document planned nursing interventions to achieve outcomes appropriate to patient needs.
  • Evaluate and document response to nursing interventions and achievement of outcomes at appropriately determined intervals.
  • As part of a multidisciplinary team, revise plan of care based on evaluative data.
  • Actively participate in process improvement activities to achieve targeted measures of clinical quality, customer satisfaction, and financial performance.
  • Focus on safety, quality and efficiency in performing job duties.
