About The Position

Orchard Park Surgery Center is seeking a skilled and compassionate Pre-Op/PACU/Pain Registered Nurse for its state-of-the-art healthcare facility. The Pre-Operative Nurse (Pre-op RN) is responsible for organizing and directing activities according to nursing standards, Joint Commission, Medicare, and all other applicable federal, state, and local guidelines. This role involves caring for all patients within the facility's scope of practice (pediatric, adult, geriatric), admitting, evaluating, assessing, and teaching patients to prepare them for their procedure or surgery. The Pre-op RN may also perform CLIA waived laboratory testing as ordered and communicate patient assessment information to the attending physician. The PACU RN plans, coordinates, and oversees care for patients in the PACU department, providing care within nursing standards and Center policies. This includes making decisions regarding direct patient care needs and communicating information to other team members and providers. Additional responsibilities may include serving on committees, participating in quality improvement audits, and other projects. The position requires weekdays only, with no holidays, weekends, or call, and offers a competitive salary and benefits.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current unrestricted RN license in the state.
  • 1+ years of experience working as a registered nurse.
  • Current American heart BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • ASC or Operating Room experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and direct activities in accordance with nursing standards, Joint Commission, Medicare and all other applicable federal, state and local guidelines.
  • Care for all patients within the scope of practice for the facility (i.e. pediatric, adult, geriatric).
  • Admit, evaluate, assess and teach the patient in order to fully prepare them for their procedure or surgery.
  • Perform CLIA waived laboratory testing required prior to surgery as ordered.
  • Communicate patient assessment information to the attending physician.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee care for patients in the PACU department.
  • Provide care within nursing standards of practice and the policies of the Center.
  • Make decisions regarding direct patient care needs and communicate appropriate information to other team members and providers.
  • Serve on committees (as designated by the manager).
  • Participate in quality improvement audits (as designated by the manager).
  • Participate in other projects (as designated by the manager).
