About The Position

The Staff Psychiatrist will manage behavioral health care, including diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. This role involves prescribing and administering psychotherapeutic treatments or medications for mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders. The psychiatrist will collaborate with other professionals on treatment plans, maintain patient records, participate in quality assurance activities, and provide oversight to behavioral health staff, evaluating and modifying treatment plans as necessary. Marginal duties include assisting with marketing, public relations, and provider recruitment, as well as performing other duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Residency completion in Psychiatry
  • Board eligible
  • Board certified
  • BLS required
  • Licensed by the State of Michigan
  • Board Certified
  • Possesses valid DEA license
  • Diagnostic skills
  • Therapeutic skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and or walk for an entire workday.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and or twist while holding up to 25 lbs occasionally.

Responsibilities

  • Manages behavioral health care including diagnosis, treatment, and follow up.
  • Prescribes, directs, and administers psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders.
  • Collaborates with providers, social workers, or other professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation on patient clinical records.
  • Participates in GLBHC’s Quality Assurance activities as assigned.
  • Provides behavioral health staff oversight.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of counseling or treatment plans and the accuracy and completeness of diagnoses and modifies diagnoses and treatment plans as necessary.
  • Assists in marketing and public relations, including recruitment of providers as needed.
  • Performs other functions relating to GLBHC’s behavioral health program as may be required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by President/CEO and Medical Director.
