Staff Product Manager

BetterUpAustin, TX
1d$200,000 - $250,000Hybrid

About The Position

Let’s face it, a company whose mission is human transformation better have some fresh thinking about the employer/employee relationship. We do. We can’t cram it all in here, but you’ll start noticing it from the first interview. Even our candidate experience is different. And when you get an offer from us (and accept it), you get way more than a paycheck. You get a personal BetterUp Coach, a development plan, a trained and coached manager, the most amazing team you’ve ever met (yes, each with their own personal BetterUp Coach), and most importantly, work that matters. This makes for a remarkably focused and fulfilling work experience. Frankly, it’s not for everyone. But for people with fire in their belly, it’s a game-changing, career-defining, soul-lifting move. Join us and we promise you the most intense and fulfilling years of your career, doing life-changing work in a fun, inventive, soulful culture. If that sounds exciting—and the job description below feels like a fit—we really should start talking. We are a hybrid company with a focus on in-person collaboration when necessary. Employees are expected to be available to work from one of our office hubs at least two days per week, or eight days per month. Our US hub locations include: Austin, TX; New York City, NY; San Francisco, CA; and the Washington, DC metro area. If this is a role based in Europe, our Europe hub locations are London, UK and Amsterdam, NL. Please ensure you can realistically commit to this structure before applying. You'll own a meaningful product surface within one of BetterUp's core product areas — driving execution, building customer relationships, and shipping work that moves metrics. You'll operate as a builder-owner: someone who takes the product direction set by your Product Lead and turns it into reality through hands-on prototyping, direct customer engagement, and hypothesis-driven execution. This is a role for someone who ships with urgency, treats AI as their primary tool, and wants ownership over outcomes — not just outputs. Our team thrives at the intersection of human expertise and AI capability. As an AI-forward company, adaptation and continuous learning are part of our daily work. We're looking for teammates who are excited to evolve alongside technology – people who experiment boldly, share their discoveries openly, and help define best practices for AI-augmented work. These professionals thoughtfully integrate AI into their work to deliver exceptional results while maintaining the human judgment and creativity that drives real innovation. During our interview process, you’ll have opportunities to showcase how you harness AI to learn, iterate, and amplify your impact.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in product management or related roles, with demonstrated ownership of product outcomes — not just feature delivery.
  • Experience contributing to product-market fit — you've been close to the problem of figuring out why something isn't landing and have played a meaningful role in changing course. You understand the difference between shipping and solving.
  • Experience building products in B2B2C environments — you understand the dynamics of selling to enterprise buyers while building for the end-users those buyers serve.
  • Direct customer exposure in enterprise contexts — you've been in the room with buyers and users, not just reading summaries. You know how to turn those conversations into product hypotheses.
  • Relentless agency. You have an internal locus of control — when something isn't working, you own it and fix it rather than pointing to external factors or waiting for someone else to act. Humility to know what you don't know; relentlessness to figure it out anyway.
  • Strong executive communication skills — you can tell the story of your product, your bets, and your learnings clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Developing product vision and strategic thinking. You have a point of view on where your product surface should go and can defend it with evidence, while staying open to updating that view as you learn.
  • Product taste. You have an instinct for what good looks like — in the product experience, in the positioning, in how your product shows up to users and buyers.
  • Strong customer-centric product development skills, with experience turning qualitative customer signal into testable hypotheses.
  • Effective cross-functional collaboration — you can align Engineering, Design, and go-to-market partners toward shared goals and hold the team accountable to outcomes.
  • AI-native fluency. You build working prototypes and functional demos using AI tools (Claude, Cursor, Replit, Figma Make) before engineering spends a sprint. You can modify prompts, adjust UI flows, and run data analyses without filing a ticket. This is your default operating method, not a novelty.

Nice To Haves

  • Domain expertise in organizational transformation, human transformation, talent intelligence, or related fields is a plus.
  • Former founders or early employees at high-growth startups — people who have lived the zero-to-one journey and thrive in ambiguity.
  • Builder PMs or Commercial PMs from B2B2C or enterprise SaaS environments — people whose superpower is either vision + build or deep customer intimacy.
  • Expertise in organizational transformation, human transformation, talent intelligence, or related fields.
  • Solution design experience — whether from consulting, customer-facing product roles, or implementation work — where you were personally involved in shaping what gets built with the buyer.

Responsibilities

  • Translate the product area's vision into concrete execution plans and own delivery against them. You carry a clear point of view on where your product surface is headed and can articulate it to any stakeholder.
  • Spend significant time with customers — solution design sessions, product demos, and direct conversations with enterprise buyers and end-users. You build your own customer relationships and use that signal to shape what you build.
  • Prototype working demos with AI tools (Claude, Cursor, Replit, Figma Make) before engineering spends a sprint. Run hypothesis-driven experiments; kill what isn't working and redirect without drama.
  • Decide and move with imperfect information. You don't wait for alignment, permission, or consensus — you listen, synthesize, decide, and act. When you're wrong, you course-correct fast. You never stall.
  • Drive your cross-functional squad (Engineering, Design, Data) toward outcomes. Set the agenda, maintain productive tension with your engineering and design partners, and own the results. You will ensure science-backed practices in the experience working with BetterUp Labs, and deliver real outcomes aligned to our People Insights Consultants and Partner Value teams.
  • Connect your work to the broader product portfolio — leveraging shared platform capabilities and aligning with peer PMs to ensure your product surface enhances the value of the overall platform.
  • Define and track success metrics for your product surface, ensuring the work delivers measurable business value. Communicate progress and surface risks early.

Benefits

  • Access to BetterUp coaching; one for you and one for a friend or family member
  • A competitive compensation plan with opportunity for advancement
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Flexible paid time off
  • All federal/statutory holidays observed
  • 4 BetterUp Inner Workdays (https://www.betterup.co/inner-work)
  • 5 Volunteer Days to give back
  • Learning and Development stipend
  • Company wide Summer & Winter breaks
  • Year-round charitable contribution of your choice on behalf of BetterUp
