About The Position

A Product Manager takes ownership of overall product and portfolio success, focusing on understanding customer needs and identifying opportunities to significantly improve the impact and usage of digital tools and POS systems at the retail site level. This role involves defining product strategy, researching new retail technology, crafting a compelling vision, and driving the product lifecycle from concept to launch and scaling, as well as assisting in the support of deployed solutions in the environment. Collaboration is key, working closely with the retail business and technology teams to deliver impactful solutions, within the bp US retail environment. The role requires a methodical approach to evaluating outcomes, ensuring alignment with bp’s financial, operational, and customer strategies. As a hands-on contributor, the Product Manager manages day-to-day accountability and performance management to achieve product success.

  • They guide teams through product lifecycles, solve operational challenges, and maintain alignment with organizational goals.

Nice To Haves

  • BS/MS in Information Systems, Business, STEM or equivalent experience
  • Extensive experience in retail technology product management (Point of Sales Systems, Back of House systems, integrations between POS and tech devices used in a retail setting)
  • Prior experience in retail operations from a technical perspective, integrating technology into site level operations

Responsibilities

  • Work with different channels of the business (Retail Ops, Tech, Marketing, HSSE, Finance) to identify technologies which can be implemented at retail sites to increase the efficiency of store operations and guest experience
  • Research technologies which meet the requirements of the business, integrate with other store and upstream systems, and provide wholistic life cycle plans encompassing deployment, upgrades, enhancements, and support of the product
  • Understand the requirements and needs of the business; leverage tech based tools to optimize employee workflows and customer experience
  • Translate vision into strategic product roadmaps with an agile delivery approach in partnership with Tech while handling cyber, operational, and/or regulatory risks
  • Plans and control costs associated with running a product, including collecting, analyzing, and reporting cost/benefit information to more optimally provide value
  • Know and empathize with internal and/or external customer(s) needs to reinvent and innovate product solutions in a retail technology environment
  • Integrate customer and partner feedback loops to ensure that product solutions and outcomes meet organizational needs, delivering and supporting tools to enhance retail operations
  • Ability to drive cross-discipline problem solving to achieve desired business outcomes
  • Collaborate with partners to define end-state architecture and drive secure, resilient, performant, and scalable store based technology solutions
  • Engage with partners on data management, laying out how data is processed, stored, accessed, and protected
  • Assess opportunities for reusing enterprise solutions and build new platforms with enterprise scalability in mind
  • Partner with store operations teams, tech teams, business teams, and HSSE teams to bring new technologies into retail sites which will drive efficiencies, safety, and effectually impact the operational ability of the site to serve its guests
  • Identify technological gaps within store level operations, research technologies to fill the gaps, and deploy and support new technologies
