Staff Product Manager

Veeam SoftwareSan Jose, CA
$250,400 - $465,100Remote

About The Position

The Veeam Kasten team is looking for a high-agency, hands-on Technical Staff Product Manager to help shape the future of cloud-native data protection. Kasten is a multi-time Leader and Outperformer in the GigaOm Kubernetes Data Protection report, and we sit at the cutting edge of one of the fastest-growing markets in infrastructure software. You’ll join a friendly, fast-moving team of builders who win together and move quickly through uncharted territory. This is a senior individual contributor role — there are no direct reports, and your impact comes from what you build, ship, and influence, not from the size of an org chart. You’ll spin up your own environments in the cloud, get your hands dirty with Kubernetes, test and tinker until you understand the “why,” and then evangelize what you’ve learned to customers, partners, and the engineering team. You’ll thrive here if you love building, form your convictions through rigorous, data-centric analysis, and can bring others along once you’ve convinced yourself.

Requirements

  • Deep Kubernetes and cloud-native expertise. Hands-on knowledge of Kubernetes and the broader cloud-native domain (e.g., Red Hat OpenShift, AWS, Azure, GCP) — comfortable setting up and operating your own environments in the cloud.
  • A genuine love for building and technology. A tinkerer at heart who tests, breaks, and learns, and who is hands-on enough to build and showcase demos that highlight product capabilities.
  • Relevant background. Prior experience in sales engineering and product management; technical roles such as field/partner solutions architecture, DevOps, or technical marketing engineering are a strong plus.
  • First-principles problem solving. Ability to break complex problems into simple steps and a data-centric mindset that forms convictions through rigorous analysis.
  • Influence without authority. Strong communication skills to engage engineers, enterprise customers, and senior leadership — and to persuade once you’ve convinced yourself of the merits.
  • High agency in fast-moving environments. A self-starter who navigates uncharted waters, manages multiple initiatives at once, and thrives in an agile, non-hierarchical setting rather than a waterfall one.
  • A team-first approach. A can-do collaborator who wins as a team, builds alignment across the organization, and executes.
  • A track record of shipping. Proven experience bringing new products and capabilities successfully to market.
  • Willingness to travel. Open to travel for customer meetings, partner activities, and conferences.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the data protection industry, including exposure to storage and database ecosystems, particularly those related to protection APIs.
  • Active participation or contributions in the CNCF / open-source cloud-native community.

Responsibilities

  • Partner shoulder-to-shoulder with engineering. Work closely with a world-class, globally distributed development team and the community to break complex problems into simple, shippable steps and drive sprint planning.
  • Own the “why.” Articulate why we are building what we’re building, grounded in rigorous, data-centric analysis, and bring engineers, customers, and leadership along once the merits are clear.
  • Evangelize and gather feedback. When it’s time to showcase, build compelling demos and proofs of concept and evangelize Kasten with customers, partners, and at analyst and community events — then close the loop and iterate.
  • Engage customers and the field. Work directly with customers and sales teams to understand real-world usage, identify growth opportunities, and continuously sharpen the roadmap.
  • Launch and scale. Define, prioritize, and execute end-to-end product development — including new initiatives for Kubernetes data protection and modern virtualization environments.
  • Measure what matters. Define and track success metrics for your product areas, and use them to inform what we build next.
  • Strengthen the ecosystem. Enable tighter integration with alliance and ecosystem partners to deliver value to customers faster.
