Staff Product Manager, Admin Dashboard & Configuration Engine

Helm HealthUSA,
$140,000 - $185,000Remote

About The Position

Helm is a Series A start-up transforming health insurance with "Dynamic Copay" – a new insurance plan that lets members see simple, upfront prices for all medical care before making decisions. Our team is building the infrastructure to power these plans for health insurance payors. With Helm, our clients offer simpler health plans to their members, helping them navigate to higher-value care. Our team has specialized in Dynamic Copay solutions since 2020, and Helm is the only independent platform in the market. We have grown rapidly since our launch, working with clients from local health plans to the nation's largest health insurers. The market is forming around us, making it an exciting time to join! This role owns two inextricably linked products: the Configuration Engine and the Admin Dashboard. The Admin Dashboard is a product for multiple user archetypes — both internal Helm teams (Implementation, Client Delivery, Ops) and various users at our clients. The Configuration Engine is what keeps that product correct: the governable input to everything downstream that prices and adjudicates claims and powers member shopping. Success is a dashboard non-technical operators can actually use to self-implement a complicated health plan, enabled by configuration that's correct for the systems that consume it and safe to change at scale. This is currently an individual contributor role and one of the most senior product seats at Helm. Beyond owning Configuration and Admin, you'll help set the tone for how product is done here - the standard for how we spec high-stakes changes, how we reason about blast radius before we ship, how we validate that setup won't break a downstream system, and how product and engineering hold contracts between teams. The patterns you establish on these products become how the wider product org works. You'll do this through your own work, your influence on peers, and, eventually, your direct reports.

Requirements

  • 5-8+ years in product management, with at least 2+ years on B2B platforms, admin/config tools, or complex workflow products.
  • Comfort with systems that have many interdependent entities and the judgment to reason about how one change cascades downstream.
  • A track record of shipping configuration UIs that non-engineers use in production — ideally with validation, environments, audit logs, or staged rollout.
  • Strong written specs and the ability to sit with engineering on data-model and edge-case design.
  • Healthcare, benefits, insurance, or claims experience is a strong plus, but owning a comparably complex system counts.

Nice To Haves

  • Bonus: role-based access, multi-tenant SaaS, or reporting/BI surfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Own roadmap, prioritization, and outcomes for Configuration and Admin.
  • Write PRDs and specs an engineer respects and QA can turn into an acceptance suite, including the domain edge cases.
  • Run discovery with Implementation, Client Success, Ops, and client stakeholders.
  • Define success metrics: time-to-configure, configuration error rate, downstream rework due to bad setup, and adoption of self-serve vs. engineering/ops tickets.
  • Ship iteratively: start with the highest-friction paths, harden permissions and audit, then expand reporting. Hold a clear mental model of the shared resources the rest of the platform depends on, and protect them as they scale.

Benefits

  • Equity
  • Unlimited PTO (mandatory 12 days)
  • Computer + home office stipend
  • 401(k) + matching
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Autonomy and tons of room for career growth
