Staff Nurse - IRL General Pediatrics (100%)
About The Position
The Staff Nurse in the Iowa River Landing Clinic’s General Pediatrics clinic assesses patients’ nursing care needs, evaluates the effectiveness of care, integrates nursing theory and research into clinical practice, and ensures patient care standards are met. The nurse provides accountable patient care, develops and evaluates care plans, collaborates with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams, and serves as a patient advocate while maintaining patient rights and confidentiality. This is a regular salaried position at the University of Iowa Health Care–Iowa River Landing Clinic in Iowa City, Iowa. The schedule is 0730–1800 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, with Wednesdays off and a 30-minute lunch. The position participates in the primary pediatric RN Saturday rotation, with Saturday hours of 0800–1200. The position is not eligible for University sponsorship for employment authorization.
Requirements
- An associate degree in Nursing, diploma in Nursing, baccalaureate degree in Nursing, or master’s degree in Nursing (MNHP or MSN).
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Two years of experience as a nurse.
- Experience in pediatrics.
- Experience working in an ambulatory clinic setting.
- Experience working with EPIC.
- Previous triage experience.
Responsibilities
- Apply nursing theory to assess, diagnose, treat, and evaluate patient responses.
- Develop patient care plans based on observations and assessments and recommend interventions to attain expected outcomes.
- Collaborate with patients and families and integrate their information into multidisciplinary patient care plans; evaluate responses.
- Evaluate the quality of nursing care provided by other staff members.
- Provide and remain accountable for patient care.
- Maintain patient rights and confidentiality and serve as a patient advocate.
- Ensure patient care standards are met.
