About The Position

The Staff Nurse II in the Neonatal ICU is accountable for assessing, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating nursing care in an acute patient setting. This includes direct patient care, patient and family education, and transitions of care. The nurse provides holistic, individualized care to patients in an assigned area and develops, implements, and coordinates plans of care that account for psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors. The role fosters collaborative relationships among patients, their families or support groups, physicians, and other healthcare providers through timely and effective communication. The nurse follows hospital policies, industry standards, best practices, and applicable laws and regulations to promote an optimal patient experience.

Requirements

Current California RN license.
Current Basic Life Support – Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) recognition from the American Heart Association or Greater Sacramento Region.
NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program.
Minimum of six months of area-specific acute care experience within the last two years.
Knowledge of the nursing process for assessing patients’ physical and psychosocial or psychological needs.
Awareness of adult learning principles for teaching patients and families.
