Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) is seeking a Staff Multiphysics Modeler to join their tritium program and process engineering team. This role will be instrumental in developing a fuel cycle model for the world's first fusion power plant, ARC. The Staff Multiphysics Modeler will create simulation toolkits and workflows that integrate first-principles multiphysics simulations with industrial process models. These tools will support technology development and subsystem integration for key fuel cycle systems, with guidance from the CFS fuel team on system requirements. The ideal candidate possesses expertise in heat and mass transport modeling, a drive for simplicity, and a passion for building. They understand the value of optimizing devices through material parameter tuning and appreciate both non-dimensional analysis and rigorous integrated simulations as needed. This individual also enjoys teaching and developing tools that enable independent use by others. A degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline, experience in process modeling and programming, a first-principles approach to complex engineering problems, and experience conducting cost-benefit analyses are required. Demonstrated success in multi-disciplinary team environments is also essential.
