Staff Foundry Product Engineer

Samsung Electronics•Austin, TX
•$131,000 - $174,500•Onsite

About The Position

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a Staff Foundry Product Engineer to join its Foundry Product Engineering team. The role sits at the intersection of fabrication and customer application, evaluating next-generation products and supporting advanced technology test vehicles. The engineer will oversee engineering margins, optimize wafer sort evaluations, and help transition process technologies from the fab to the global market. The position involves developing failure-analysis workflows and yield-learning models, applying SCAN/SRAM diagnostics and physical failure confirmation to improve yield robustness and operational efficiency, and contributing to quality and reliability across Samsung’s semiconductor roadmap. The engineer will work with internal teams to launch new customer products and resolve complex silicon issues using wafer-sort and wafer-acceptance-test data, fabrication process knowledge, design rules, and product ATE knowledge. This is a full-time, on-site position. The stated base salary range is $131,000–$174,500. Total compensation includes benefits and may include incentive compensation. The role may involve access to information or technology subject to U.S. export-control laws; employment may be contingent on verifying U.S. Person status or obtaining an export license.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in science or engineering; electrical engineering is preferred.
  • At least 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Solid foundation in semiconductor and device physics and circuit fundamentals.
  • Understanding of ATE fundamentals and test methodology, including wafer sort, DFT, EFA, characterization, and shmoo.
  • Statistical analysis and data literacy, including statistics, STDF/parametric data analysis, CPK, and experience with JMP, Spotfire, or similar tools.
  • Structured debugging and root-cause troubleshooting mindset, including building yield-learning models and distinguishing test or process-margin failures from defects.
  • Cross-functional communication and technical ownership, providing data-driven, actionable feedback to internal teams.
