Staff Engineer, Process Engineering

Takeda•Boston, MA
•$116,000 - $182,270

About The Position

The Staff Engineer will work within Takeda’s Synthetic Molecule Process Development (SMPD), which develops robust, sustainable, and cost-effective manufacturing processes for new synthetic molecule pharmaceuticals and methods to achieve and control high standards of purity and quality. The role focuses on reaction and particle engineering, including developing scale-down models for unit operations and transferring technology to external contract manufacturing organizations. The successful candidate will use process analytical technologies (PAT) with statistical and first-principles mathematical models to improve process understanding and support process development, optimization, scale-up, and troubleshooting. The role also develops scale-down equipment and helps implement advanced process control strategies for batch and continuous processes. As a technical resource across SMPD pipeline projects, the Staff Engineer will advance departmental technologies and develop subject-matter expertise. The role includes managing outsourced work, representing Takeda in pre-competitive collaborations with academic and industrial partners, and providing technical leadership across projects.
