About The Position

Render is hiring a Staff DX Engineer to shape how developers and coding agents discover, try, and adopt Render. DX Engineering creates tutorials, demo apps, templates, and videos, builds agent skills and internal tools, and tests major releases end to end as a customer would. The role owns technical content and code from initial idea through working sample app, documentation, and video, collaborating with DevRel, Product Marketing, Product, and Engineering. This position is remote within the US, with the option to work from Render’s San Francisco headquarters. The engineer will focus on AI applications, agents, and Render AI runtime products such as Render Workflows; own Render templates and the render-examples GitHub organization; build automation and tools; improve Render’s presence in LLM and answer-engine results; alpha test releases; and contribute to developer-facing products including the CLI, MCP server, SDKs, and documentation. The role also shapes the content roadmap and quality bar, sets technical direction for DX Engineering, and raises team standards through reviews and individual work.

Requirements

  • 8+ years building developer content or working as an engineer who teaches at a developer tools or infrastructure company.
  • Experience setting technical direction and raising the bar for a team.
  • Full-stack engineering experience, including strong backend skills with Node.js/TypeScript, Python, and Postgres; comfort with Docker and containers; and sufficient frontend skill to build sample apps end to end.
  • Deep hands-on knowledge of AI agents and their workloads, including building and deploying agents that call tools, run code in sandboxes, and handle long-running tasks with retries and state, plus understanding the infrastructure those workloads need.
  • Experience with the agent stack, including MCP servers, agent frameworks, LLM APIs, evaluations, and durable workflow or background job systems.
  • Daily fluency with coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor, and ability to produce quality work at a steady cadence with them.
  • Excellent technical writing and understanding of world-class developer content.
  • Track record of owning projects end to end with little direction.
  • Strong intuition for developer tools and a love of well-crafted user experiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior use of Render, professionally or on side projects.
  • Experience with AEO or SEO, or measuring how content performs in LLM answers.
  • A public body of work, such as talks, a YouTube channel, popular open-source repositories, or a well-read blog.
  • Experience presenting workshops and technical talks.

Responsibilities

  • Build tutorials, demo apps, and videos that show developers how to build on Render, especially AI applications, agents, and products such as Render Workflows.
  • Own Render templates and the render-examples GitHub organization for popular developer frameworks, ensuring shipped work deploys and runs.
  • Build agent skills, automation, and internal tools to reduce repetitive content and operations work.
  • Investigate and improve Render’s visibility in LLM and answer-engine results by shipping appropriate content or fixes.
  • Alpha test new releases end to end and document issues in actionable detail for Product and Engineering.
  • Contribute code to developer-facing surfaces, including the Render CLI, MCP server, SDKs, and documentation.
  • Shape the content roadmap and quality bar with Product, Engineering, and Marketing, and iterate based on feedback and metrics.
  • Set technical direction for DX Engineering and raise team standards through reviews, standards, and personal contributions.

Benefits

  • 4 weeks of paid vacation.
  • 14 weeks of fully paid parental leave for all parents, with support for a return-to-work plan.
  • Long-term disability insurance, life insurance, and 401(k) plans.
  • 100% employer-paid medical coverage and 99% employer-paid dental and vision coverage for the employee and a dependent.
  • Flexible spending accounts (FSAs) and health savings accounts (HSAs).
  • Monthly lifestyle stipend for wellness, mental health and therapy, hobbies, and other uses.
  • Monthly cell phone and internet subsidy.
  • Commuter benefits for Bay Area employees and home office stipends for remote employees.
