About The Position

The Staff Development Specialist I is responsible for assisting in the coordination and development of training for staff at the facility, including new employee orientation, annual training, implementation of new programs and special curriculum. This position ensures that staff are equipped with knowledge and skills necessary to comply with state requirements and organizational standards. The Staff Development Specialist I supports the staff development department with maintaining training schedules, documentation, and training materials ensuring consistency and best practices across all training efforts. Strong communication, facilitation, and organizational skills are essential along with the ability to adapt training methods to meet the needs of diverse audiences. This position must be able to obtain and maintain instructor certification in CPI and CPR.

Requirements

  • Knowledge applying training theories, principles, and instructional techniques to develop and deliver formal and informal training programs for adult learners.
  • Ability to manage and maintain accurate training records, run reports, and demonstrate compliance with required competencies for all facility staff.
  • Proficiency in Learning Management Systems (Cornerstone LMS), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), SharePoint and Adobe Presenter.
  • Requires medium physical exertion.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods while delivering presentations.
  • Possess the fine motor skills and stamina required to set up heavy equipment and demonstrate CPR techniques, physical restraints and non-violent crisis techniques.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in a progressive training or teaching role or one year of experience in a human service, counseling, or training program in the subject matter specified; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
