About The Position

As a Staff Data Scientist at Walmart, you will leverage advanced analytical techniques and machine learning to transform complex data into actionable business insights. This role requires expertise in data strategy, model development, and visualization to support decision-making across multiple business domains. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data sources, validate models, and deploy scalable solutions that drive measurable impact. Our team advances Walmart’s e-commerce search backend by applying machine learning and advanced algorithms to deliver highly relevant product results. Focused on enhancing the customer journey, the team ensures a smooth transition from intent to purchase. Leveraging expertise in data science, natural language processing, and large language models, the team continuously improves search accuracy and user experience. Collaborating across functions, it supports scalable model deployment and data pipeline development, driving optimized business outcomes through innovative, data-driven solutions.

Requirements

Strong expertise in predictive analytics, machine learning algorithms, and statistical hypothesis testing.
Proficiency in Python programming and data visualization tools such as Matplotlib, Plotly, or Tableau.
Experience with data strategy, including data quality standards, governance, and scalable data storage solutions.
Ability to assess, validate, and tune models using best practices and relevant evaluation metrics.
Skilled in translating complex business problems into data-driven solutions with advanced analytical modeling techniques.
Knowledge of deploying and monitoring models in production environments to ensure performance and scalability.
Effective communication skills to present data insights and guide junior team members.
Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 4 years' experience in an analytics related field.
Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 2 years' experience in an analytics related field.
6 years' experience in an analytics or related field
