About The Position

The (USA) Staff, Data Scientist plays a critical role in leveraging AI, Agentic AI, Advanced analytics, Machine learning, and data visualization to drive strategic business decisions. This position requires expertise in identifying and validating data sources, developing predictive models, and deploying scalable solutions. The role involves collaborating across functions to translate complex business challenges into data-driven insights, ensuring data quality and governance standards are met. The successful candidate will guide analytical modeling efforts, support continuous model improvement, and communicate findings effectively to influence stakeholders and support organizational objectives. The Applied AI team develops and scales AI and machine learning solutions that enhance business decisions and operational efficiency across Walmart. They deliver production-ready AI products focused on automation, forecasting, and optimization. Collaborating closely with business and engineering partners, the team transforms data into deployable models and decision tools that improve performance and customer outcomes. Leveraging advanced expertise in data science, machine learning, and AI technologies, the team drives measurable impact and supports Walmart’s commitment to innovation and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in predictive analytics, machine learning algorithms, and data science methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Python/PySpark programming and advanced data visualization tools such as Matplotlib, Plotly, Tableau, or PowerBI.
  • Strong understanding of data strategy, data quality standards, and data governance principles.
  • Experience with model assessment, validation techniques, and deployment in production environments.
  • Knowledge of natural language processing, deep learning, and MLOps practices.
  • Ability to translate complex business problems into data-driven solutions using statistical and optimization methods.
  • Effective communication skills to present insights and mentor junior team members.
  • Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 4 years' experience in an analytics related field.
  • Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 2 years' experience in an analytics related field.
  • 6 years' experience in an analytics or related field
