Staff Content Designer - Patient Experience

Gifthealth Inc•Columbus, OH
•$114,000 - $142,000

About The Position

Gifthealth is seeking a Staff Content Designer, Patient Experience, to own how the company communicates with patients and build a system that keeps that communication consistent as the company scales. The role supports the Patient Experience function within the product department and reports to the Sr. Director of Digital Experience. It focuses on creating clear, trustworthy patient communications across specialty pharmacy programs and ensuring alignment with organizational goals, operational excellence, and compliance standards. The role begins with hands-on writing and grows into building content systems that enable product, design, and operations teams to communicate effectively without routing all copy through the content designer. The designer will establish Gifthealth’s patient-facing voice and tone, create core templates and standards, improve key patient flows, and maintain an AI-supported content process. They will remain directly involved in sensitive patient communications, voice AI scripts, and wording negotiated with clients. The position is full-time and exempt. The description specifies standard business hours, while noting that some flexibility may be needed for sensitive patient communications, client-negotiated wording, and voice AI script reviews. Location is not specified and is to be confirmed with the hiring manager. The role involves regular collaboration with product, design, operations, compliance, legal, and white-label client teams.

Requirements

  • 6–8 years of experience in content design, UX writing, or product content strategy; the source posting notes that specific years of experience were not specified.
  • A portfolio demonstrating a voice or content system the candidate built, rather than only examples of copy they wrote.
  • Comfort with compliance and legal review, and a track record of respectfully challenging wording and reaching better alternatives.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools to scale content work, with a clear point of view on their strengths and limitations.
  • Ability to influence without authority across product, design, legal, and client teams.
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with product, design, operations, legal, and client teams.
  • Ability to produce and review written content under tight timelines for sensitive patient-facing moments.
  • Ability to use AI tools to design, test, and maintain content systems and guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare, wellness, or another regulated product environment; the posting identifies Noom-style environments as a strong signal.

Responsibilities

  • Define a distinct patient-facing Gifthealth voice and tone, separate from the marketing voice, and make it usable across checkout, portal, and notification contexts.
  • Align SMS, email, web app, website FAQ, and voice AI agent communications so patients experience a coherent voice across touchpoints.
  • Design and maintain a Claude skill and supporting guidelines that help product, design, and operations teams generate and edit on-voice copy.
  • Establish quality standards for AI-generated and edited content, test the Claude skill, and continually improve it.
  • Collaborate with white-label clients and their brand and legal teams on requested wording; determine when to maintain standards or adapt, and propose alternatives that preserve clarity and appropriate length.
  • During the first 90 days, draft the voice and tone foundation, core message templates, and gold-standard examples for the Claude skill.
  • Rewrite important patient flows, including checkout and onboarding, and audit existing SMS, email, and FAQ content to prioritize improvements.
  • Remain hands-on with sensitive patient communications involving cost, delays, adherence, and side effects; voice AI scripts; and client-negotiated wording.
  • Define a tiered review model in which low-risk copy can ship without direct review, medium-risk copy receives a quick asynchronous check, and high-risk copy receives direct involvement.
  • Enable most patient-facing copy to ship on-voice without direct involvement within 6 to 12 months, while focusing personal judgment on the content where it has the greatest impact.
  • Work collaboratively with product, design, operations, compliance, legal, and client teams to ensure alignment.
  • Produce and review written content under tight timelines for sensitive patient-facing moments.
  • Use AI tools to design, test, and maintain content systems and guidelines.
