About The Position

The Staff Automation Engineer - Internal Audit will design, engineer, automate, and continuously optimize audit workflows rather than perform audits. The role will help move the Internal Audit department from manual, point-in-time testing to continuous assurance and real-time risk insights by applying process engineering, generative AI, and agentic orchestration. The position combines audit process re-engineering with AI-agent design, automation, and ecosystem integration. It includes building AI-assisted workflows for control mapping, walkthrough documentation, and anomaly narratives; creating reusable prompt and agent libraries; automating processes that interact with GRC platforms; and developing dashboards from automated testing results. The role also ensures solutions are explainable, respect privacy and model-risk requirements, and include human review checkpoints. The position is remote within the U.S. and requires 10% travel. The approximate base salary range is $111,692–$145,649, with total compensation including base salary, bonus, and equity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, or Accounting with a heavy technical focus.
  • 5–8+ years of experience in Audit Transformation, Process Excellence, or Business Systems Engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with LLM orchestration platforms such as Vellum, LangChain, or Copilot Studio.
  • Advanced proficiency in automation platforms such as Power Automate, Zapier/Make, or n8n.
  • Passion for AI, self-learning, willingness to experiment, and interest in implementing boundary-pushing solutions.

  • Hands-on experience with SQL, Python, DataSnipper, or AI-based audit tools such as Alteryx, MindBridge, or custom GPT agents.
  • Proficiency in data governance and data warehouses such as Snowflake or Databricks.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and map end-to-end audit processes, from risk assessment through issue remediation, to identify automation-first opportunities.
  • Apply Lean/Six Sigma principles to reduce manual data entry, redundant evidence requests, and administrative overhead in the audit lifecycle.
  • Design standardized, modular workflow patterns reusable across financial, IT, and operational audit domains.
  • Build and deploy AI-assisted workflows using platforms such as Vellum AI, Copilot Studio, and Claude 3.5/4 for control mapping, walkthrough documentation, and anomaly narrative generation.
  • Develop and maintain a prompt registry and agent library to ensure consistent AI interaction with sensitive audit data.
  • Design agentic automations in Microsoft Power Automate or Make.com to process exceptions, route approvals, and update GRC platforms such as AuditBoard and Workiva.
  • Deploy DataSnipper for automated document matching and population integrity testing.
  • Design and maintain Power BI or Tableau dashboards that provide live risk heatmaps based on automated testing results.
  • Ensure AI solutions are explainable and comply with corporate Model Risk Management and data privacy standards, including GDPR and CCPA.
  • Embed human-in-the-loop checkpoints so subject matter experts validate AI-generated output.
