About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a Staff Admin II to support employee activities and programs focused on staffing, compensation, benefits, training, and safety. This role involves answering employee questions about HR policies and procedures, coordinating HR projects, and providing administrative support. The Staff Admin II may also mentor or train new staff members. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, with a work shift of Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of administrative experience required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency in HR management systems required
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in managing projects required

  • Advanced Excel skills preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supports employee activities and programs that focus on staffing, compensation, benefits, training and safety.
  • Answers employee questions about human resources policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates projects for the human resource department.
  • Supports employee questions/needs and administrative functions of a department.
  • May mentor and/or train new or lower level staff.
  • Oversees departmental recruitment and hiring processes, managing requisitions, performance evaluations and associated tasks for each.
  • Manages preparation of documents for appointments, promotions, salary and related changes, as well as additional external departments as required.
  • Processes required personnel action forms for posting new positions, as well as closing employees out of department upon termination or resignation.
  • Performs exit interviews and provide trends/concerns to department director.
  • Works in collaboration with the HR Business Partner to investigate issues and determine resolutions, ensuring University policy and procedures are applied equitably.
  • Interprets University policies to management and staff and works with HR Business partner to advise on application.
  • Works in collaboration with leadership on tracking and reporting key employee data tied to strategic plans.
  • Provides statistical data to department managers.
  • Creates and executes talent management initiatives for staff, including training opportunities, pulse surveys, staff meetings, and social celebrations.
  • Participates in special project work and serves on teams or committees as needed.
  • Works to align departmental projects with overall human resources policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
