The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- 2+ years of relevant accounting experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems)
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information
Nice To Haves
- Fitness, retail, or multi-location business experience a plus
- CPA candidate or actively pursuing CPA licensure
- Experience with multi-location or franchise business accounting
- Familiarity with fitness industry membership/billing platforms
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and merchant processing accounts
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
- Prepare financial reports and schedules for management review
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis efforts
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records
- Assist with sales tax filings and other regulatory reporting requirements
- Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and schedules
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls
- Perform other accounting duties and special projects as assigned
