About The Position

As a Staff Accountant, you will be an essential contributor to the day-to-day accuracy and efficiency of Quartus' Accounting team. This is a foundational close-and-reconciliation role built for someone who is detail-oriented, eager to build technical accounting skills, and ready to take ownership of their assigned accounts from day one. You will report to the Accounting Manager and work within a small, collaborative team focused on delivering a clean, timely month-end close. Over time — particularly following our ERP transition — there is a natural path for this role to grow in support of complex project accounting and operational finance support. That evolution is the longer-term vision; for now, the core work is the close.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 0–3 years of accounting experience (public accounting, corporate, or internship experience welcome)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite
  • Solid understanding of debits, credits, and basic US GAAP principles
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • US Person (US Citizen or US Permanent Resident)

Nice To Haves

  • CPA candidate or intent to pursue CPA licensure
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, NetSuite, Intacct, or similar mid-market platforms)
  • Exposure to accounts payable, month-end close, or reconciliation workflows
  • Interest in project accounting, government contracting, or professional services environments
  • Engineering, aerospace, or defense industry familiarity a plus

Responsibilities

  • Prepare assigned monthly general ledger reconciliations, including: Accounts payable and accounts receivable sub-ledger tie-outs, Prepaid expense schedules and amortization tracking, Accrued liability accounts, Credit card and expense clearing accounts, Other assigned balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare and post recurring monthly journal entries under the direction of the Accounting Manager, including accruals, reclassifications, and expense allocations.
  • Maintain organized close workpapers and supporting documentation for each assigned account.
  • Assist with data entry, account coding, and transaction research as needed during the close cycle.
  • Prepare supporting workpapers and documentation for assigned accounts in connection with the annual financial review and external audit.
  • Assist with sales and tax data gathering for compliance filings.
  • Support the ESOP annual audit by organizing and preparing assigned schedules and documentation.
  • Active participant in Finance & Accounting ERP system transition (target go-live 2027).
  • Assist in documenting current-state processes and performing data validation during testing and cutover.
  • Engage actively in training on new system workflows as they are introduced.
  • Collaborate closely with the Senior Accountant to ensure a smooth, coordinated close cycle.
  • Identify and flag process inefficiencies or data quality issues; contribute ideas for improvement.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
