About The Position
A well-established distribution company is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to assist the Controller with monthly financial reporting, account reconciliations, journal entries and month-end close. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with strong Excel skills, solid analytical ability and experience working with large volumes of financial data.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- Experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, journal entries or month-end close.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, formulas and large data sets.
- Strong analytical, mathematical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to explain financial information clearly to accounting and non-accounting employees.
- Strong organization, accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work onsite and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Nice To Haves
- Up to two years of accounting experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist with monthly financial statements and month-end close.
- Reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Analyze expense accounts and explain variances.
- Work in Excel with large data sets using sorting, formulas, VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.
- Assist with inventory accounting and month-end inventory close.
- Reconcile key vendor accounts with the Accounts Payable team.
- Prepare balance sheet schedules and supporting documentation.
- Communicate with branch managers and internal departments to resolve accounting issues.
- Assist with internal warehouse audits, including occasional travel.
- Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and deadlines.
