About The Position

Every day, Good Shepherd Community Clinic (GSCC) provides quality healthcare and support to individuals and families in our community. The Staff Accountant is an important part of that team. Through accurate financial management, thoughtful problem-solving, and a commitment to continuous improvement, this role strengthens the financial foundation that allows GSCC to support our providers, staff, and the patients we serve. As our Staff Accountant, you will support the day-to-day financial operations of the clinic, including payroll, accounts payable, financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance activities. You will work closely with Human Resources, department leaders, vendors, and team members to ensure financial processes are accurate, efficient, and aligned with organizational needs. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys organized work, takes ownership of their responsibilities, and looks for opportunities to improve processes. Your attention to detail and commitment to accuracy will strengthen the financial integrity of Good Shepherd while supporting the operations that allow our organization to serve our community.

Requirements

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of accounting or payroll experience.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Experience with accounting and payroll software.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy.
  • High level of integrity with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Healthcare or nonprofit accounting experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Process biweekly payroll, maintain payroll records, and ensure compliance with applicable payroll regulations.
  • Manage the accounts payable process, including vendor invoices, payments, employee reimbursements, and vendor record maintenance.
  • Audit daily clinical cash activity, create deposit and deliver to bank.
  • Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end close.
  • Reconcile payroll, credit card transactions, and assigned general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare financial and payroll reports for management and support internal and external audit activities.
  • Prepare ACA (1095-C) and annual 1099 reporting.
  • Respond to payroll, vendor, and employee inquiries while resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
