About The Position

The Staff Accountant reports to the Manager of Corporate Accounting and is responsible for journal entry preparation, general ledger reconciliations, financial reporting, audit support, and analytical review of financial results. The ideal candidate possesses strong critical-thinking skills and the ability to gather, consolidate, and analyze data from multiple systems to support accurate financial reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent
  • 1-2+ years’ experience - insurance industry preferred
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office- Excel (Pivot Tables, Lookups, Formulas), Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, multi-task and be a self-starter in a fast-paced environment with demanding internal and external deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work on-site 3x/week

Responsibilities

  • Support the monthly close process by preparing and posting journal entries, completing account reconciliations, and performing P&L trend analyses across assigned products.
  • Research and analyze variances between actual financial results and forecasts, identifying key drivers and trends.
  • Coordinate with external partners and brokers to review monthly bordereaux reports and settlement statements.
  • Partner with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with financial reporting and audit requirements.
  • Identify and recommend enhancements to accounting systems, processes, and controls to improve operational efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve system and process challenges.
  • Assist with special projects, ad hoc analyses, and other responsibilities as assigned.
