The Staff Accountant is a key member of the Finance Department. Staff Accountant should be experienced in all basic aspects of financial accounting and reporting as well as development and maintaining internal control policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with financial statement preparation.
  • Excellent understanding of GAAP and relevant financial accounting regulations.
  • Strong and advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills (particularly Excel and PowerPoint) and knowledge of accounting software programs – Great Plains is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Skilled in time management and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience as an accountant, assistant controller, or similar role.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certification such as CPA, CFM, or CMA preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update general ledger accounts accordingly with daily and monthly journal entries.
  • Execute timely month-end and year-end closing processes independently.
  • Track daily cash positions and bank balances.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, sub-ledgers, and intercompany transactions.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly balance sheets, income statements, and variance analysis reports.
  • Assist in providing schedules, records, and documentation for outside accountants for year-end reporting.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned including carrying out responsibilities, performing duties, using skills, and working in conditions necessary to perform all assigned tasks
