We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with small or mid-sized business experience who can meet deadlines, stay highly organized, and manage multiple priorities effectively. This individual will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day accounting functions of our growing industrial equipment dealerships under the Atlantic brand. The ideal candidate is highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, hands-on setting. This role requires someone who is adaptable, takes ownership, and can confidently balance a variety of responsibilities in a shared services capacity.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience
  • Working knowledge of general ledger, AP/AR, and reconciliations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively in a structured environment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and achieve productivity goals.

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, proficiency in MS Excel, Google Chrome, and accounting software packages; experience with ERP systems a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform full cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
  • Provide month-end close support.
  • Assist with fleet management activities including registrations and reconcilement of maintenance and repair expenses.
  • Assist with preparation of weekly/monthly cash flow reports.
  • Assist with tracking asset additions and disposals and depreciation reconcilements.
  • Assist with sales tax filings across multiple states while maintaining supporting documentation for compliance and audits.
  • Assist with expense reconcilement and data analysis.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned to support/collaborate with administrative and operational teams.
  • Ensure all accounting activities are performed in accordance with GAAP.
  • Assist with internal and external audit preparation, including providing supporting documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Occasional travel to branch locations may be required.
  • Experience with intercompany transactions and multi-entity accounting preferred.
