The Staff Accountant position is primarily responsible for managing various accounts payable and receivable as well as general accounting processes. The position is an independent contributor with no supervisory responsibilities. The position reports directly to the Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant. Professionals with staff accountant, billing specialist, and/or accounts receivable experience are highly encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or higher in accounting or finance or related experience.
  • One or more years of experience in accounting or finance
  • All candidates must have (or qualify to obtain) a current Colorado driver's license
  • All positions require a pre-employment drug test, FBI fingerprint check, CBI criminal records check, child abuse registry check, motor vehicle record check, academic record verification, and reference checks
  • Must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States in compliance with federal law.
  • All persons hired will be required to verify their eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assume overall management of the client billing process on a monthly basis; ensure all services are billed and at the correct rates
  • Fully utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and clearinghouse for billing
  • Tracking and monitoring all billing, payments, and collections to effectively manage accounts receivable
  • Ensure client billing cash receipts are entered into EMR and Financial Edge based on month-end close process timing
  • Follow up on all outstanding school district invoices
  • Respond to staff questions regarding claims-related concerns
  • Prepare monthly billing revenue journal entry
  • Prepare and process biweekly payroll
  • Prepare and process monthly credit card expense reports
  • Prepare yearly 1099 statements
  • Oversee and reconcile petty cash account
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and operate with integrity
  • Ensure insurance authorizations and contract rates are properly set up in EMR
  • Supports and advances quality improvement efforts through adherence to Tennyson Center policies and procedures, regulatory standards, and best practices
  • Other duties as assigned
