About The Position

The Staff 2 Accountant works as part of the Finance team to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the organization's financial records and compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and best practices in a non-profit environment. This role will support the accounting department in day-to-day operations, including general ledger entries, recordation of revenue activity, account reconciliation and ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Staff Accountant 2 will work with various departments to ensure the organization's financial health and contribute to its mission.

Requirements

  • Batchler degree in accounting and/or Finance or certifications in Accounting/Finance
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounting operations
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office 365 applications (including Teams & SharePoint), with a heavy focus on advanced Excel features.
  • Proficiency working with accounting software packages.
  • Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations. Must maintain confidentiality.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and organizational skills
  • Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post general ledger entries and adjustments
  • Perform regular account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Generate and process revenue activity from multiple systems to the General Ledger
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable as needed
  • Ensure all financial records comply with GAAP and internal company policies
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation
  • Assist in the Budget Process as needed
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations
  • Assist with ad hoc reports, projects, and other accounting tasks as needed
