SRE / Infrastructure Engineer (MEDGEN)
About The Position
The SRE / Infrastructure Engineer will work on the Medgen environment and own the reliability, security, and continuity of Comtron’s Windows- and Linux-based production environment. The role focuses on production infrastructure, availability and security; backups and disaster recovery; and production deployments and hosting environments. It also supports infrastructure modernization, technology upgrades, and potential transitions of applicable systems to cloud or hybrid-cloud environments. The role reports to the Head of Software Development and works closely with the IT Director, Software Development, Quality Assurance, Security, and Support teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Infrastructure, DevOps, or a similar role.
- Strong hands-on Linux administration experience.
- Strong Windows Server and IIS administration experience.
- Experience managing high-availability production environments.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls, and network segmentation.
- Experience with Azure, AWS, GCP, or hybrid-cloud environments.
- Experience with enterprise backups, disaster recovery, and production incident management.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
- Familiarity with .NET and JavaScript-based application environments.
- Experience with deployment pipelines, automation, and Microsoft TFS or similar tools.
- Experience with access controls, system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and infrastructure security.
- Familiarity with ISO 27001 requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Responsibilities
- Manage the lifecycle of Windows and Linux production servers, including provisioning, configuration, patching, hardening, and decommissioning.
- Monitor uptime, performance, capacity, and infrastructure costs.
- Maintain high-availability configurations and resolve production incidents.
- Manage production access controls, firewall rules, certificates, networking, storage, and database connectivity.
- Coordinate vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and remediation activities.
- Manage infrastructure vendors and support evaluation of public or hybrid-cloud solutions.
- Own production backup policies, monitoring, retention, and recovery testing.
- Establish and maintain RTO and RPO targets.
- Maintain, document, and regularly test disaster recovery procedures.
- Lead improvements following incidents and disaster recovery exercises.
- Manage staging, UAT, and production hosting environments.
- Execute production deployments and rollback procedures.
- Coordinate deployment windows and infrastructure changes.
- Support CI/CD tooling and deployment automation.
- Plan and coordinate operating system, database, framework, library, and application dependency upgrades.
- Assess cloud migration options, dependencies, risks, and phased modernization strategies.
