About The Position

The Sr. Test Engineer designs, develops, and executes automated tests to ensure the quality and reliability of software applications and services in a commercial cloud-based Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery environment. The role supports streamlined testing, reduced defects, and accelerated software releases throughout the software development lifecycle.

The engineer participates in Agile software development activities and works with Scrum teams to assess story complexity, develop test approaches, and validate functionality against user story acceptance criteria. The position focuses on automating recurring and regression test cases, maintaining test scripts through DevOps and configuration management practices, documenting end-to-end test cases, and supporting performance testing and evaluation. The work is performed onsite in Bethesda, Maryland, in a SAFe Agile and DevOps environment.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with at least a CI polygraph; the position details also state TS/SCI with a Full-Scope Polygraph is required.
• Bachelor of Science degree and at least 8 years of relevant experience, or a master's degree and at least 6 years of relevant experience; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Experience in software quality assurance, with a focus on automation testing.
• Experience creating, authoring, executing, and documenting software test cases and result sets in an Agile cadence.
• Experience with automation frameworks and tools such as Selenium or Katalon Studio.
• Familiarity with writing efficient, scalable test scripts.
• Direct experience with software performance testing practices.
• Experience working or testing in commercial cloud platforms, such as AWS, and with DevOps tools.
• Experience working in a SAFe Agile and DevOps development environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and execute test cases that complement development efforts.
• U.S. citizenship.

Nice To Haves

• Hands-on experience with Katalon Studio and Katalon Runtime Engine.
• Programming skills in Java or Python to write efficient, scalable test scripts.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and GitHub and integrating them with automated tests.
• Direct experience with AWS environments.

Responsibilities

• Participate in Agile software development activities, including standups, planning, and increment planning.
• Collaborate with team members to assess story points and testing complexity and ensure functionality is delivered in accordance with user story acceptance criteria.
• Work with Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and software developers to develop test approaches, emphasizing automation of recurring and regression test cases.
• Develop automated test cases for custom applications using designated GUI or commercial off-the-shelf tools such as Selenium and Katalon Studio.
• Use DevOps practices to maintain repeatability and configuration management of test cases and scripts and continuously improve them.
• Develop and document end-to-end functionality test case narratives using JIRA and Confluence.
• Support performance testing and evaluation activities using tools such as JMeter.
• Design, develop, and execute automated tests in a commercial cloud CI/CD pipeline.
