Sr. Test Engineer
About The Position
The Sr. Test Engineer designs, develops, and executes automated tests to ensure the quality and reliability of software applications and services in a Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipeline within a commercial cloud environment. The role helps streamline testing processes, reduce defects, and accelerate software releases. The engineer supports custom application development in a SAFe Agile environment, collaborating with Scrum teams to shape test approaches, assess testing complexity, and validate functionality against user story acceptance criteria. The position emphasizes automation of recurring and regression tests, end-to-end testing, software performance testing, and maintaining test scripts through DevOps and configuration management practices. The position is onsite in Bethesda, Maryland. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and hold an active TS/SCI clearance with at least a CI polygraph; the posting also states that a Full-Scope Polygraph (FSP) is required.
Requirements
- Active TS/SCI clearance with at least a CI polygraph; the posting also specifies a Full-Scope Polygraph (FSP).
- U.S. citizenship.
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with at least 6 years of relevant experience; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Experience in software quality assurance focused on automation testing.
- Experience creating, authoring, executing, and documenting test cases and result sets for software products in an Agile cadence.
- Experience with automation frameworks and tools such as Selenium or Katalon Studio.
- Familiarity with writing efficient and scalable test scripts.
- Direct experience with software performance testing practices.
- Experience working or testing within commercial cloud platforms such as AWS, using DevOps tools, and working in a SAFe Agile and DevOps development environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively to execute test cases in coordination with development efforts.
Nice To Haves
- Hands-on experience with Katalon Studio and Katalon Runtime Engine.
- Programming skills in Java or Python to write efficient and scalable test scripts.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and GitHub and integrating them with automated tests.
- Direct experience with AWS environments.
Responsibilities
- Participate in Agile software development activities, including standups, planning, and increment planning, to support custom application enhancements and functionality testing in a commercial cloud environment.
- Collaborate with team members to assess story-point and testing complexity efforts and ensure functionality is tested and delivered according to user story acceptance criteria.
- Work with Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and software developers to develop test approaches, emphasizing automation of recurring and regression test cases.
- Develop automated test cases for custom applications using designated GUI/commercial off-the-shelf products such as Selenium and Katalon Studio.
- Apply DevOps practices to maintain repeatability and configuration management of test cases and scripts, and continuously improve them.
- Develop and document end-to-end functionality test case narratives using JIRA and Confluence.
- Support performance testing and evaluation activities using tools such as JMeter.
- Guide and execute functional, regression, end-to-end, and performance testing for custom applications.
