About The Position

The Sr. Systems Integration Engineer will support launch readiness and ongoing production of current vehicle builds at Ford Louisville Assembly Plant, focusing on integrating In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) software into the manufacturing environment. IVI supports manufacturing-critical services, including Over-the-Air (OTA) updates, connectivity, and diagnostics. The engineer owns IVI’s OTA, connectivity, and diagnostic performance across flashing, commissioning, end-of-line, and audit stations to help ensure build targets are met. The role leads implementation of tools, technologies, and error-proofing methods to resolve IVI-related manufacturing and process issues. It serves as the plant’s technical escalation point and subject matter expert for IVI software, partnering with vehicle software, cybersecurity, IT, diagnostics, and cloud teams. The position supports launch readiness, cutover plans, issue containment, and new vehicle introductions or major software and hardware updates. The position is hybrid, with a requirement to be onsite four or more days per week at Louisville Assembly Plant. It may involve launches, critical issue resolution, and occasional off-shift activities as needed. The salary range is $115,000–$192,900; final salary is determined based on candidate skills and experience, job scope, responsibility, and competitive market value. Visa sponsorship is available.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in automotive embedded or vehicle software, or high-volume manufacturing integration, with direct exposure to IVI, telematics, or connected vehicle systems.
  • Strong understanding of OTA update architecture, including campaign orchestration, ECU flashing sequences, and rollback or failure handling.
  • Experience with vehicle diagnostic protocols.
  • Hands-on manufacturing or plant-floor experience with flashing stations, end-of-line test systems, and MES/PLC interfaces.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and network boundaries in a production environment.
  • Ability to collaborate with line workers, technicians, and cross-functional engineers, with strong communication skills to translate plant-floor issues into engineering requirements and vice versa.
  • Willingness to work onsite at Louisville Assembly Plant and support launches, critical issue resolution, and occasional off-shift activities as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Android Automotive, QNX, or Linux-based IVI platforms.
  • Prior experience supporting new vehicle launches or plant integration for connected vehicle features.
  • Scripting or automation experience with Python or Shell for diagnostic and OTA validation tooling.
  • Working knowledge of software release management, version control, and CI/CD concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical owner for software integration across IVI, OTA, connectivity, diagnostics, and manufacturing software in the plant.
  • Own the OTA manufacturing workflow and ensure OTA services are correctly configured at each stage; coordinate with vehicle software and cloud teams on manufacturing readiness.
  • Manage and troubleshoot IVI connectivity to plant network infrastructure, cloud diagnostic services, and backend network systems.
  • Support and continuously improve the diagnostic service that queries other ECUs, ensuring accurate, low-latency multi-ECU diagnostic reporting on the line.
  • Lead root-cause investigations into IVI connectivity, OTA, and diagnostic failures, and drive corrective and preventive actions with cross-functional teams.
  • Lead implementation of tools, technologies, and error-proofing methods to resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Partner with vehicle software, cybersecurity, IT, and diagnostics teams to define manufacturing requirements for new IVI software releases before they reach the plant.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing test scripts and validation procedures for IVI, connectivity, OTA, and diagnostic functions.
  • Act as the plant’s technical escalation point and IVI software subject matter expert; mentor junior engineers and technicians in troubleshooting methodology.
  • Support launch readiness activities, cutover plans, and issue containment for new model introductions and major software or hardware updates.
