Ford•Louisville, KY
•$115,000 - $192,900•Hybrid

About The Position

The Sr. Systems Integration Engineer will support launch readiness and ongoing production of current vehicle builds at Ford Louisville Assembly Plant (LAP), focusing on integrating In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) software into the manufacturing environment. IVI supports manufacturing-critical services including Over-the-Air (OTA) updates, connectivity, and diagnostics. The engineer owns IVI OTA, connectivity, and diagnostic performance across flashing, commissioning, end-of-line, and audit stations to help meet build targets, and leads the implementation of tools, technologies, and error-proofing methods to resolve manufacturing issues. The role serves as the plant’s technical owner and escalation point for IVI software integration. It works with vehicle software, cloud, cybersecurity, IT, and diagnostics teams to ensure OTA readiness, network and backend connectivity, accurate diagnostic reporting, and manufacturing requirements for software releases. The position also supports launches, cutovers, issue containment, test development, and continuous improvement, while mentoring junior engineers and technicians. This is a hybrid position requiring onsite work at least four days per week at Louisville Assembly Plant, with support for launches, critical issue resolution, and occasional off-shift activities as needed. The salary range is $115,000–$192,900, with final salary determined by skills, experience, job scope, responsibility, and market value. Visa sponsorship is available.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in automotive embedded or vehicle software, or high-volume manufacturing integration, with direct exposure to IVI, telematics, or connected vehicle systems.
  • Strong understanding of OTA update architecture, including campaign orchestration, ECU flashing sequences, and rollback or failure handling.
  • Experience with vehicle diagnostic protocols.
  • Hands-on manufacturing or plant-floor experience with flashing stations, end-of-line test systems, and MES/PLC interfaces.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and network boundaries in a production environment.
  • Ability to collaborate with line workers, technicians, and cross-functional engineers, with strong communication skills to translate plant-floor issues into engineering requirements and vice versa.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical owner for software integration across IVI, OTA, connectivity, diagnostics, and manufacturing software in the plant.
  • Own the OTA manufacturing workflow and coordinate with vehicle software and cloud teams to ensure OTA services are correctly configured and ready for manufacturing.
  • Manage and troubleshoot IVI connectivity to plant network infrastructure, cloud diagnostic services, and backend network systems.
  • Support and continuously improve diagnostic services that query other ECUs, ensuring accurate, low-latency multi-ECU diagnostic reporting on the line.
  • Lead root-cause investigations into IVI connectivity, OTA, and diagnostic failures, and drive corrective and preventive actions with cross-functional teams.
  • Lead implementation of tools, technologies, and error-proofing methods to resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Partner with vehicle software, cybersecurity, IT, and diagnostics teams to define manufacturing requirements for new IVI software releases before they reach the plant.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing test scripts and validation procedures for IVI, connectivity, OTA, and diagnostic functions.
  • Act as the plant’s technical escalation point and IVI software subject matter expert; mentor junior engineers and technicians in troubleshooting methodology.
