About The Position

SAIC is seeking a Ground Systems Software Integration Engineer to provide systems engineering, integration, and test (SEIT) expertise to a government program office responsible for ground element command and control activities for a major space-system acquisition. The ground segment includes command-and-control software, customized hardware, automated data processing equipment (ADPE), and network integration. The role supports software development reviews, testing oversight, analysis, and requirements verification to help ensure the program is delivered on schedule and within cost. The architectures include bare-metal and virtual environments. The engineer provides primary support to the government at a factory location, overseeing software development, integration, and testing, and coordinates acceptance and delivery across multiple sites. The position is based in El Segundo, California, and requires an active TS/SCI clearance with a Counterintelligence (CI) polygraph. The role requires overseas travel and prior ground-system acquisition experience on a major satellite system.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph; the role description specifies a Counterintelligence (CI) polygraph.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and at least 9 years of experience; or a master’s degree and at least 7 years; or a PhD or JD and at least 4 years.
  • Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM).
  • Prior ground-system acquisition experience in a major satellite system.
  • Experience managing combined hardware and software integration activities.
  • Experience with systems integration from factory testing through site implementation.
  • Experience with the software development life cycle (SDLC), including agile processes, cloud platforms, and virtualization technologies.
  • Ability to organize meetings, coordinate projects, and write and review technical reports.

  • Experience with hardware development, verification, validation, and operations and maintenance (O&M) for large systems.
  • CSEP and/or PMP certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NSIS and JSIS.
  • Experience with NRO, IC, or DoD program management processes.

Responsibilities

  • Support software procurement from requirements identification and development through system testing, sell-off, delivery, and installation at multiple sites.
  • Support hardware and software IT architecture design and development, providing analysis and recommendations for ground command and control.
  • Provide systems engineering support for requirements development, design, test plans, and verification through developer acceptance testing.
  • Provide formal and informal feedback on program status and recommended courses of action; participate in test-procedure reviews and witness testing.
  • Review and assess ground-system specifications, RADs, RVPs, ICDs, RVRs, and system-level requirements for adequacy.
  • Review, analyze, and coordinate changes to ground-system specifications.
  • Participate in defining, managing, testing, verifying, and validating collection-segment internal and external interfaces.
  • Review, document, and trace ground-system hardware and software requirements; coordinate with stakeholders to resolve issues.
  • Review ground-system requirement allocations for accuracy and ensure allocation documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Coordinate delivery and acceptance testing across geographically diverse sites.
  • Participate in and witness ground-system testing to verify internal and external interfaces; review and correlate post-test data to confirm requirements are met.
  • Apply knowledge of industry command-and-control hardware and software design, manufacturing, testing specifications, and standards when reviewing developer documentation and processes.
  • Review acquisition milestone ground-system design documentation for adequacy, accuracy, and completeness; identify cost, schedule, and technical risks or opportunities and recommend mitigation strategies.
