About The Position

The Ground Systems Integration Engineer (GSIE) provides systems engineering, integration and test (SEIT) subject matter expertise and acquisition support to a government program office responsible for ground element command and control activities within a space program office. The ground segment includes command and control software, customized hardware, automated data processing equipment, and network integration, across bare-metal and virtual environments. The position supports full life-cycle system efforts from procurement through operations and maintenance, including requirements analysis and tracking, system design and development, testing, delivery, installation, and sell-off. The goal is to help ensure the sustainment program is executed on schedule and within cost. The engineer oversees and analyzes testing, verifies requirements, supports contract actions, and coordinates with the Program Office. The role involves evaluating system architectures, specifications, interfaces, developer verification data, and acquisition milestone documentation; identifying risks and opportunities; and providing technical recommendations to the customer. The position coordinates delivery and acceptance testing across geographically diverse locations, supports facilities teams during site surveys and installations, and requires travel to those locations and developer sites, including the ability to travel overseas. The candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and hold an active TS/SCI security clearance with a polygraph. Required education is a STEM bachelor's degree with nine or more years of experience, or a master's degree with five or more years of experience.

  • Coordinate with SED, GED, MOD, and non-NRO SPO ground elements as required.
  • Advise on the design and deployment of scalable infrastructure platforms.
  • Attend system-level design reviews and program management reviews to assess design maturity and requirements compliance, and provide technical recommendations to the customer.
  • Participate in and witness ground systems testing to verify internal and external interfaces; review and correlate post-test data to assess whether requirements are met.
  • Apply knowledge of industry command and control hardware and software design, manufacturing, test specifications, and standards when reviewing developer documentation and processes.
  • Analyze design modifications and assess ground systems interface implications against performance requirements using analytical skills and tools.
  • Review acquisition milestone ground systems design documentation for adequacy, accuracy, and completeness; identify cost, schedule, and technical risks or opportunities and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Assess developer verification data and recommend approval or disapproval to the GPOC, with clear supporting rationale.
