The Sr. Specialist, Technical Writer, will be responsible for creating, developing, planning, writing and editing operational, instructional, maintenance or test procedures for paper, multimedia or web-based publication. This role involves researching and translating technical information into manuals and/or web-based documents for both non-technical and technical users. The specialist will conduct interviews with various users and technical staff to gather data, document engineering processes and specifications, and recommend formats that meet technical and customer requirements. The position requires producing documentation that adheres to company standards and interacting with Engineering stakeholders and customers to capture publication data and schedule requirements. The role also involves managing defined budgets and meeting schedule deadlines through adaptability and flexibility in change management, and using MS Office Suite and other applications to communicate manpower and scheduling, coordinating with the Program Management Office and Technical Publication supervision. Specific tasks include updating Digital Flight Manual, Maintenance Manual, Illustrated Parts Catalog, Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, Wiring Diagram Manual, Time Compliance Technical Orders, Maintenance Planning, and Task Card data for the VIPSAM fleet of aircraft. The specialist will develop and modify digital publications in an unstructured environment using FrameMaker software and interpret mechanical and engineering drawings. The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD Clearance is also required, along with other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
