About The Position

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Senior Specialist, Systems Engineering in Modeling, Simulation & Analysis (MS&A) to join the Mission Analysis Group (MAG). The role supports the development of analytic toolsets for constructive simulation and experimentation across multiple domains. These capabilities support customer engagements, proposal efforts, and advanced concept exploration for internal stakeholders and external contract customers. The position is listed for Palm Bay, Florida, or Herndon, Virginia, and the description identifies Herndon as the team location. The schedule is 9/80: employees work 9 out of every 14 days, totaling 80 hours, with every other Friday off. Relocation assistance is available to qualified applicants. The Senior Specialist coordinates MS&A engineering efforts, develops and integrates simulations and analytic toolsets, and supports programs and pursuits through modeling, simulation, and analysis products. The role also supports requirements development, system verification, and CONOPS development, while helping ensure capabilities meet operational mission requirements. The position requires an active DoD Top Secret clearance and the ability to obtain TS/SCI/SAP clearance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 6 years of relevant experience; or graduate degree and at least 4 years of related experience; or, in lieu of a degree, at least 10 years of related experience.
  • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance.
  • Professional experience executing simulations using MS&A analytic tools and frameworks, such as AFSIM or STK.
  • At least 2 years of experience integrating systems simulations with MBSE tools such as Cameo, ModelCenter, DOORS, or Rhapsody.
  • At least 2 years of experience with scripting languages, such as Python, C++, C#, R, or MATLAB.
  • Professional experience with Agile development methodology, version control, and Atlassian tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Git, or TortoiseGit.
  • Prior U.S. military, DoD, or other U.S. Government engineering or operations experience.
  • Ability to obtain TS/SCI/SAP clearance.
  • Prior management and leadership knowledge and experience in MS&A mission analysis, with comprehensive knowledge in the professional discipline.
  • Ability to communicate and influence across organizational boundaries, including communicating matters of importance to leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Professional experience in operations analysis, mission engineering, operational planning, mission integration, or capability development within the U.S. military, DoD, or another U.S. Government agency.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Advanced experience supporting multi-domain modeling, simulation, and analysis problems and using system-through-mission-level modeling and simulation tools and frameworks.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: aerodynamic systems, orbital mechanics, signal processing, sensor systems, and RF or EO/IR physics.
  • Highly effective organization-level communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, as well as data visualization and storytelling skills.
  • Advanced experience with government or industry MS&A analytic tools and frameworks, such as AFSIM, PIANO, STK/Astrogator, MATLAB with SIMULINK, Python, or Java.
  • Advanced experience with MBSE tools such as Cameo, ModelCenter, DOORS, or Rhapsody.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate MS&A engineering efforts to integrate system performance and behaviors into operational analysis.
  • Design multi-domain simulation capabilities using AFSIM, MATLAB, and/or STK for technology and mission roadmaps, internal research and development, and programs of record.
  • Integrate Government-off-the-Shelf and Customer-off-the-Shelf simulations, frameworks, models, and analytic toolsets into existing software infrastructure.
  • Build and maintain analytic toolsets representing each phase of the find, fix, target, track, engage, and assess (F2T2EA) chain, using sensor, effects, and communications technologies.
  • Develop decision-support aids, including data visualization and Unity game-engine capabilities, to support operations assessment and lessons-learned development and refinement.
  • Document model specifications and maintain a repository of reusable simulation capabilities, frameworks, algorithms, system models, and analytic toolsets across classification levels, following configuration-management protocols.
  • Support programs and pursuits by creating models, simulations, and analysis products; determine requirements, develop simulation software, troubleshoot existing simulation capabilities, and create software designs and test plans.
  • Support requirements development, system verification, and concept of operations (CONOPS) development; work with technical leaders and subject-matter experts to ensure capabilities meet operational mission requirements.
  • Develop new simulation capabilities and employment processes, and enhance current analytic toolsets.
  • Support internal and external technical expos and roadshows by sharing knowledge of signature simulation capabilities and products.
  • Communicate with internal and external parties, including customers or vendors, and influence acceptance of changes to policies, practices, concepts, and approaches.
  • Establish short-term operational plans with measurable contributions to function or business-area results, and communicate significant matters to leadership, including through briefings to senior leaders.
