Test Engineer (Top Secret Clearance Required)

About The Position

North Point Technology is seeking a Test Engineer to provide Agile DevOps support for mission-critical systems. This role requires a Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a CI Polygraph. The position involves working within a High Performance Computing and mission software program, contributing to the design, development, and execution of comprehensive test strategies across cloud-based environments.

Requirements

  • DevOps practices applied to develop, maintain, and continuously improve test automation assets, including configuration control, traceability, and repeatability.
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence used to manage requirements, tasks, test artifacts, and project documentation.
  • Experience with software development, testing, and integration activities within cloud development environments.
  • SAFe Agile participation including daily standups, sprint reviews, and functional testing.
  • Collaboration with Product Owners, Software Developers, and QA Teams to develop test approaches with emphasis on automation of regression testing.
  • Creation, maintenance, and evaluation of automated test suites to validate application functionality and improve test coverage.
  • Execution and documentation of testing activities for Jira-tracked development efforts.
  • Analysis of testing results with actionable feedback provided to development teams.
  • Testing within commercial cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and OpenShift with DevOps tooling.
  • Testing of both back-end and front-end application processes.
  • Scripting with Python or similar languages to automate tasks.
  • CI Pipeline test execution including JEST, Cypress, and/or Playwright.
  • Experience with software performance testing practices.
  • Creation, authoring, execution, and documentation of test cases and result sets in an Agile cadence.

  • Tracking test failures back to code changes that introduced defects.
  • Reviewing code check-ins to assess the impact of changes on system functionality and potential bugs.
  • Software development or integration experience in a service-oriented environment (Cloud, SOA, Web Services) or virtualization environment.
  • Experience with unit testing, continuous integration tools, and Git version control.
  • SQL queries and database analysis techniques to validate application data, investigate defects, and ensure data integrity.
  • Experience with DoD Aeronautical Datasets.
  • Experience with AWS CloudFormation templates.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Development Teams, Architects, and QA Managers to design, develop, execute, and maintain comprehensive test strategies that support mission objectives and product requirements.
  • Practice a SAFe Agile workflow by participating in daily standups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Review and implement test requirements, support test case execution, and contribute to release validation activities.
  • Apply testing methodologies and troubleshooting experience to identify defects.
  • Maintain test automation frameworks.
  • Participate in test plan reviews.
  • Document test results and quality metrics.
  • Ensure overall system code coverage remains above 80%.
  • Support software quality, performance, and continuous improvement through rigorous testing practices.
