About The Position

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Scientist, Systems Engineering in Modeling, Simulation & Analysis (MS&A) to join the Mission Analysis Group (MAG). The selected candidate will work with a diverse, collaborative, geographically dispersed team to develop analytic toolsets for constructive simulation and experimentation across multiple domains. These capabilities support customer engagements, proposal efforts, and advanced concept exploration for internal stakeholders and external contract customers. The role coordinates MS&A engineering efforts to integrate system performance and behaviors into operational analysis. It develops and integrates simulations, models, software, and analytic toolsets; supports requirements, verification, and CONOPS development; and contributes to mission analysis, roadmaps, research and development, and programs of record. The position also supports technical knowledge sharing and mentoring across MAG. The posting lists Palm Bay, Florida as the job location, while the job description says the role joins MAG in Herndon, Virginia.

  • Professional experience with Agile development methodology, version control, and Atlassian tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Git, or TortoiseGit.
  • Prior U.S. military, DoD, or other U.S. Government engineering or operations experience.
  • Ability to obtain TS/SCI/SAP clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Professional experience in operations analysis, mission engineering, operational planning, mission integration, or capability development within the U.S. military, DoD, or another U.S. Government agency.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Advanced experience supporting multi-domain modeling, simulation, and analysis problems and system-through-mission-level modeling and simulation tools and frameworks.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: aerodynamic systems, orbital mechanics, signal processing, sensor systems, and RF or EO/IR physics.
  • Highly effective organization-level communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, including data visualization and storytelling.
  • Advanced experience with government or industry MS&A analytic tools and frameworks such as AFSIM, PIANO, STK/Astrogator, MATLAB with SIMULINK, Python, or Java.
  • Advanced experience with MBSE tools such as Cameo, ModelCenter, DOORS, or Rhapsody.

Responsibilities

  • Direct experienced professionals, lower-level supervisors, or associate managers; establish short-term operational plans and contribute to improvements in processes, systems, or products.
  • Communicate with internal and external parties, including customers and vendors, to explain and influence policies, practices, concepts, and approaches; communicate with leadership and conduct briefings with senior leaders as needed.
  • Coordinate MS&A engineering efforts to integrate system performance and behaviors into operational analysis.
  • Design multi-domain simulation capabilities using AFSIM, MATLAB, and/or STK in support of MAG technology and mission roadmaps, internal research and development, and programs of record.
  • Integrate GOTS and COTS simulations, frameworks, models, and analytic toolsets into existing software infrastructure.
  • Build and maintain analytic toolsets representing the find, fix, target, track, engage, and assess (F2T2EA) chain using sensor, effects, and communications technologies; develop decision-support aids such as data visualization and Unity game-engine tools for operations assessment and lessons learned.
  • Document model specifications and maintain a reusable repository of simulation capabilities, frameworks, algorithms, system models, and analytic toolsets across multiple classification levels, following configuration-management protocols.
  • Support programs and pursuits by creating models, simulations, and analysis products; determine requirements, develop simulation software, troubleshoot existing capabilities, and create software designs and test plans.
  • Support requirements development, system verification, and CONOPS development, working with technical leaders and subject-matter experts to ensure capabilities meet operational mission requirements.
  • Develop new simulation capabilities and processes for employment and enhance existing analytic toolsets.
  • Support internal and external technical expos and roadshows by sharing knowledge of simulation capabilities and products.
  • Support knowledge transfer through coaching and mentoring junior technical staff across MAG.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
