The Sr. Software Engineer will be responsible for analysis, design, development, debugging, and modification of embedded control software for electronics applications such as controllers, PFC-based 3-phase Active Rectifiers, Motor Control, DC-DC Convertors and AC Drives for harsh and hazardous environments for commercial aerospace products. You will take ownership and/or support technical engineering teams and projects related to W&W System Components. Using sound engineering principles, this engineer will interface with cross-functional groups (internal and external) to ensure robust, airworthy designs are attained which meet budget, schedule, and internal requirements and goals. This leadership position will be responsible for participating in and leading improvement activities at a group and/or company level.

Requirements

  • Analysis, design, development, debugging, and modification of embedded control software for electronics applications
  • Experience with controllers, PFC-based 3-phase Active Rectifiers, Motor Control, DC-DC Convertors and AC Drives for harsh and hazardous environments for commercial aerospace products.
  • Ability to interface with cross-functional groups (internal and external)
  • Ability to ensure robust, airworthy designs are attained which meet budget, schedule, and internal requirements and goals.
  • Experience with power electronic applications
  • Experience with control system software requirements
  • Experience writing embedded code for 3-phase Active Rectifier, Motor Control electronics
  • Experience with system design and subsystem designs
  • Experience with power electronics controllers
  • Experience with Source and assembly level debugging
  • Experience optimizing software performance
  • Experience reviewing control software design with suppliers
  • Experience leading or supporting software design review activities
  • Experience interfacing with vendors, customers and other departments on technical issues
  • Experience leading small/medium size software development teams
  • Experience reviewing, checking and approving work done by peers and lower level engineers.
  • Experience providing guidance and training to lower level engineers.
  • Experience assessing standard work and supporting or leading improvement projects.
  • Ability to understand how various groups (engineering, industrialization, operations) work together and navigate through the company.
  • Ability to analyze customer requirements and validate them by analysis/modeling/prototyping or based on existing product performance
  • Ability to create software requirements specification and hardware/software interface control documents
  • Ability to create verification plan for validating product compliance to requirements
  • Ability to interface independently with technical analysts to define the software design
  • Ability to interface independently with existing and/or new suppliers and OEMs
  • Ability to create design tools to help define the product design, capture lessons learned and improve rotating equipment development process
  • Ability to create software design document that covers design analysis, notes, and specific guidelines followed
  • Ability to create design verification test procedure (DVTP) and report (DVTR)
  • Ability to perform product performance testing and analysis to ensure that requirements are met and generate test reports
  • Ability to independently find or create solutions to problems requiring research, resourcefulness and creativity
  • Ability to support feasibility, development, validation, verification, and qualification testing at Monogram and at external test laboratories.
  • Ability to utilize sound technical problem solving to support ongoing projects
  • Ability to follow sound engineering principles to ensure designs meet airworthiness standards, customer requirements and ZWWS internal standards
  • Ability to critically review and present findings and trade studies
  • Ability to provide input to program and project managers
  • Experience with RTCA/DO-178 based process tasks and generating PSAC, SDP, SVP, SCMP, SQAP, SCI, and SAS documents
  • Ability to understand, follow, and promote, ZWWS policies and procedures
  • Ability to process engineering changes in the development of water and waste systems and equipment
  • Ability to document findings and trade studies

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement advanced control algorithms for power electronic applications
  • Develop control system software requirements to write embedded code for 3-phase Active Rectifier, Motor Control electronics
  • Contributes to system design and independently develops subsystem designs that meet the requirements. Considers tradeoffs between requirements, cost and reliability in the choice of a design approach
  • Test/debug power electronics controllers, Source and assembly level debugging
  • Optimize software performance by working with control system engineers
  • Work with suppliers to review control software design.
  • Lead or support software design review activities. Interface with vendors, customers and other departments on technical issues
  • Independently owns, or leads a team for small/medium size software development.
  • Reviews, checks and approves work done by peers and lower level engineers.
  • Provides guidance and training to lower level engineers.
