About The Position

Caira Surgical is recruiting an application developer to spearhead development of its Surgical Navigation Applications. Caira develops technologies for navigated and robotic orthopedic surgery, with a mission to improve patient care and surgical outcomes by increasing healthcare access, equity, and quality of life. The role is described as hybrid remote and also as remote, with proximity to Tampa, Florida preferred. The engineer works closely with the surgeon design team to understand the surgical environment and develop solutions for total joint replacement procedures that support surgeons and operating-room staff. The role includes planning, designing, developing, verifying, validating, and deploying applications in accordance with user needs, the Product Development Process, and quality-system guidelines. The engineer also collaborates across Marketing, Operations, Quality, and Regulatory Affairs, supports regulatory and quality activities, and helps improve development processes and application lifecycle management. Travel may be up to 15%.

Requirements

B.S. or higher in Computer Science or engineering.
Proven experience as an application developer, professional or otherwise.
At least 5 years of experience developing in C/C++.
Experience with Qt.
Critical and analytical thinking skills and keen attention to detail.
Ability to work in a remote team environment and build strong relationships across the company and diverse geographies.
Ability and enthusiasm to thrive on a team in a fast-paced, highly innovative startup environment.
Demonstrated technical expertise, initiative, and ownership.
Ability to work with minimum supervision and formulate and evaluate options to complete work and meet objectives.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work with employees at all organizational levels.
Proficiency with software development tools and applications for project management, record keeping, word processing, and spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

Work with Marketing and Surgeon Designers to understand and document user needs.
Create project plans and timelines for development, verification and validation, and deployment of Surgical Navigation Applications.
Design and develop Surgical Navigation Applications that meet user needs and follow the Product Development Process and Quality System guidelines.
Collaborate with the team to ensure applications align with organizational goals and customer needs.
Work with Operations, Quality, and Regulatory Affairs colleagues on quality processes, procedural documentation, regulatory filings, and complaint handling.
Identify opportunities to improve application development processes and overall development efficiency.
Work with Regulatory Affairs to stay current with FDA guidance and requirements.
Stay current on technology trends to keep software innovative and extensible.
Track the application lifecycle to ensure necessary updates are completed on time.
