About The Position
Apple's AI & Data Platforms (AiDP) team is IS&T's engine for AI-powered innovation, bringing together data, application development, machine learning, data services, and customer success to help IS&T build solutions efficiently and support the adoption of generative AI across Apple. The Generative AI Developer Advocacy Engineer bridges the engineering team and the global AI developer community. The role combines hands-on software development with developer education and advocacy: building production-ready reference architectures and proof-of-concept applications, and teaching developers to use the platform to create next-generation AI workflows. The position involves work such as debugging complex retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines in Python and presenting to large developer audiences.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience as a software engineer, machine learning engineer, or technical developer advocate.
- Hands-on experience building applications using large language models (LLMs).
- Familiarity with modern AI orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or Haystack, and vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, or Milvus.
- Deep expertise in Python and its ecosystem.
- A proven track record of writing clear, engaging technical content and presenting complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- A genuine desire to help developers succeed, including patience in debugging community issues and translating them into actionable product feedback.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript for full-stack prototyping.
- Previous experience contributing to or maintaining open-source AI projects.
- Familiarity with model deployment, fine-tuning, or MLOps infrastructure.
- An existing network or presence within the AI/ML developer community.
