About the position
SpinLaunch is seeking a candidate to join their team as a Software Engineer. The role involves developing software tools to measure the effectiveness and feasibility of advanced satellite communication constellations. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, as well as experience in modeling systems performance and a strong understanding of 3D vector geometry and calculus. The salary range for this position is $165,000.00 to $220,000.00.
Responsibilities
- Developing software tools to measure the effectiveness and feasibility of advanced satellite communication constellations
- Using and creating software tools to model satellite payload performance, utilization, and lifecycles
- Modelling global market demand for communication services
- Modelling constellation support infrastructure (ground stations etc.)
- Optimizing computational efficiency of in-house modelling tools
- Managing SpinLaunch's codebase of constellation modelling tools
- Working with the Engineering team to optimize the constellation design
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineer, Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, or related field
- Experience in modelling systems performance across a variety of disciplines (MATLAB, Python, Julia, Excel, etc.)
- Strong understanding and knowledge of 3D vector geometry and calculus
- Ability to rapidly expand application specific knowledge sets and skills where necessary
- Passion for understanding complexity and finding answers to challenging questions
- Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering with a focus on Spacecraft (ideal qualification)
- At least 5 years of related industry experience (ideal qualification)
- Experience developing GIS (mapping) software tools (ideal qualification)
- Previous experience with LEO spacecraft and/or space mission top level design (ideal qualification)
- Previous experience working on LEO constellation(s) (ideal qualification)
- Familiarity with radio communication principles (antennas, link budgets, etc.) (ideal qualification)
- Experience in optimizing computationally intensive software (ideal qualification)
Benefits
- Salary Range: $165,000.00 to $220,000.00
- Base salary determined on a case-by-case basis
- Benefits influenced by factors such as experience, credentials, certifications, educational attainment, skill level requirements, and scope of the position
