Sr Software Engineer (Security), Ai & Data Platforms

About The Position

Apple’s AI & Data Platforms organization is seeking a senior security engineer to help enable secure AI platforms. The role conducts application security assessments, provides guidance to engineering teams, and develops agentic capabilities to transform and accelerate security assurance. It assesses platform and product security risks through architecture reviews and testing of modern application stacks deployed in the cloud, then documents findings and remediation guidance for developers and business owners. The engineer will develop AI-enabled automated tooling to optimize security scanning and testing in partnership with other security engineers. The role focuses on application security, software engineering, and preferably AI at enterprise scale across modern public-cloud technology stacks, including security challenges affecting engineering and SRE. The position also involves researching and applying new technologies and techniques as the security and AI domains evolve. The successful candidate will work independently to lead projects or own significant components of larger projects, collaborate with senior engineers, and build sustainable relationships with engineering and security teams across Apple to deliver integrated solutions. The role also includes leading junior engineers and contractors.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related engineering field.
10 years of experience in security engineering, specializing in security testing of modern application technology stacks and designing and implementing preventive and detective security controls.
Experience with security testing of one or more public cloud services, such as AWS or GCP.
Proficiency in Python and hands-on experience with Linux and macOS environments.
Ability to explain networking concepts, including routing, ACLs, load balancers, SSL/TLS, and TCP, to provide application architecture feedback.
Background in web application development and/or code auditing.
Experience developing offensive security and automation tools.
Experience with vulnerability scanning, including SAST and DAST.
Experience leveraging AI/LLMs for security testing and automation.
Experience with Kubernetes and container security.
Experience with common authentication protocols.
Knowledge of emerging security risks associated with AI technologies and their mitigating controls.
Ability to work independently, with a track record of leadership, innovation, responsibility, and creative thinking.
Experience developing detailed security assessment reports and leading junior engineers and contractors.
Experience leveraging and customizing open-source projects.
Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD frameworks.
Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively with multifunctional technical and business teams.
