About The Position

Authentic is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design and implementation of complex projects building the next generation of insurance infrastructure. The role owns work from problem definition through delivery, with a high degree of independence. Engineers work alongside insurance experts to build and maintain Authentic’s technology platform, which supports specialized insurance programs. The engineer will identify bottlenecks and prioritize practical solutions, own problems end to end across user experience, data models, scalability, operability, and metrics, and improve reliability and performance across product, infrastructure, and data. The role also involves iterating on features based on user feedback and mentoring other engineers.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience building and maintaining production systems at scale.
At least 5 years of experience building distributed systems in Python or Go.
Strong understanding of modern API development best practices and design.
Familiarity with AWS, infrastructure as code, and deployment best practices.
Demonstrated high agency and ownership, including clarifying goals, asking effective questions, and driving work to completion.
A track record of prioritizing reliability without compromising velocity.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and implementation of multiple complex projects to build insurance infrastructure, owning work from problem definition through delivery.
Identify bottlenecks and build solutions that help the company move faster, applying first-principles thinking and practical judgment.
Own problems end to end, considering user experience, data models, scalability, operability, and ongoing metrics.
Investigate root causes and optimize for outcomes that unblock the business and improve user experience.
Identify and implement reliability and performance improvements across product, infrastructure, data, and operability.
Iterate on existing features based on user feedback and pursue a high standard of excellence.
Mentor and coach other engineers on the team.
