About The Position

We believe that mental health is just as important as physical health. We recognize that mental health issues can be complex and multifaceted, and we are dedicated to treating the whole person, not just the symptoms. We aim to create a world where mental health is no longer stigmatized or marginalized, but rather is embraced as an integral part of one's overall well-being. We believe that by providing quality care that is both evidence-based and compassionate, we can empower individuals to take charge of their mental health and achieve their full potential. We are passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of those struggling with mental health issues and we strive to be a force for positive change in the field of mental healthcare. Rula is a remote-first company. We currently hire in most U.S. states, with the exception of Hawaii. About the Role At Rula, exceptional patient outcomes are powered by world-class engineering. As a Senior Software Engineer on our Patient Services team, you won’t just maintain existing systems—you will architect the high-throughput, distributed platform that serves as the single source of truth for all patient data across Rula. We are currently undergoing a period of hyper-scale, and you will lead the technical strategy for one of our highest-impact initiatives: re-engineering our core backend data systems to be massively scalable, resilient, and fault-tolerant. In this critical role, you will tackle complex distributed systems challenges where system performance, uptime, and data integrity directly impact real human lives seeking mental healthcare. You will drive zero-to-one architectural decisions during a pivotal growth phase while acting as both a technical leader and a force multiplier for the team. Beyond designing foundational infrastructure, you will mentor high-performing engineers, establish operational rigor, and partner directly with product managers and cross-functional teams to shape both our engineering roadmap and product vision. If you are excited to build the foundational systems that make high-quality mental healthcare accessible for everyone, this role is for you.
