About The Position

The Sr Production Equipment Operator works at Abbott’s Altavista, Virginia plant in the Abbott Nutrition division, which manufactures nutrition products. The role operates, cleans, and helps maintain standard and complex high-speed production equipment used to make nutrition products. It also supports materials management, equipment troubleshooting, documentation, and quality checks. The operator is accountable for meeting FDA, OSHA, and Abbott compliance standards and procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

• Six months of prior manufacturing experience.
• Proficiency in basic math.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Some mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate, clean, and help maintain production equipment, including complex and standard high-speed equipment.
• Maintain accurate and legible records and documentation.
• Maintain an adequate supply of materials for equipment in operation.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Ensure products and materials have the proper identification, correct codes, and expiration dates.
• Perform periodic on-line visual quality inspections and offline quality tests.
• Meet applicable FDA, OSHA, and Abbott compliance standards and procedures.
