About The Position

The Production Supervisor works at Abbott Nutrition’s Altavista, Virginia manufacturing plant and coordinates production team activities to achieve shift and line performance. The role develops team members through training, coaching, and feedback; promotes safety, quality, compliance, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement; and manages expenses, including labor and overtime costs. The position is accountable for compliance with FDA and OSHA requirements and Abbott policies and procedures. It may be hired at level 14 or 16, depending on experience and business needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, science, food technology, or engineering, or two years of supervisory experience in a regulated industry with a GED or high school diploma.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate production team activities to deliver performance for the shift or line.
• Develop team members through training programs, timely coaching, and feedback.
• Model and promote behaviors that drive a culture of safety and quality compliance.
• Drive operational efficiencies and understand performance based on key metrics.
• Promote continuous improvement using problem-solving skills.
• Manage expenses, including labor and overtime costs.
• Model and promote accountability to FDA, OSHA, and Abbott compliance standards, policies, and procedures.
