Sr. Product Manager, Consumer & Mobile Applications

SunStrong Management, LLC•Houston, TX

About The Position

SunStrong Management is hiring a Senior Product Manager to own the vision, roadmap, and execution of its homeowner-facing mobile and web applications. The role will unify a fragmented customer experience inherited from acquired providers, deciding which legacy applications to sustain, migrate, consolidate, or retire while building new self-service capabilities for customer care, billing and payments, field service, and independent monitoring of homeowners’ solar and storage systems. The Product Manager will define a coherent end-to-end homeowner experience and lead legacy-app assessments and customer migrations, including account and credential continuity, payment and autopay transfers, customer communications, app store releases, and sunset plans. They will evaluate build, buy, and partner options and deliver new capabilities in collaboration with operating teams, engineering, design, and external vendors. The role is accountable for product outcomes such as adoption, self-service resolution and call deflection, on-time payment, field-service completion, app ratings, reliability, and cost to serve. The position reports to the VP of Product Management and works across Customer Care, Servicing and Collections, Field Service Operations, Fleet Telemetry, Engineering, Legal and Compliance, and Design. It includes responsibility for instrumentation, experimentation, continuous discovery, launch readiness, and compliance considerations for consumer servicing, payments, privacy, accessibility, collections communications, and app store policies.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of product management experience owning consumer-facing software products end to end, from discovery through launch and iteration.
  • At least 3 years owning native iOS and Android applications in production, including app store release management, versioning, and support of a live consumer user base.
  • Demonstrated experience with transactional consumer flows such as account management, payments or billing, and customer support, where accuracy and trust are important.
  • Experience migrating, consolidating, or sunsetting applications or platforms and moving real users without losing them.
  • Strong analytical skills, including SQL fluency, product analytics, and experimentation, with experience defining success metrics before building.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with both engineering and executive audiences.
  • Track record of leading cross-functional initiatives to completion and earning followership without formal authority.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in solar, distributed energy, utilities, telecom, or another business with a large installed base and a field-service component.
  • Experience building consumer monitoring or device-data experiences, including production dashboards, alerting, and connected-device or IoT applications.
  • Experience in consumer financial services or fintech subject to payments and collections regulation, including PCI-DSS, FDCPA, UDAAP, or state requirements.
  • Experience integrating customer-facing applications with Salesforce Field Service and Service Cloud, billing, ERP, or payments platforms.
  • Experience integrating products and customers following an acquisition or portfolio transition.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards such as WCAG, design systems, and applying AI to customer self-service, including guided troubleshooting and agent handoff.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, computer science, design, or a related field; an advanced degree is welcome but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Own the vision, strategy, and multi-quarter roadmap for homeowner-facing mobile and web applications, and defend prioritization and sequencing to executive stakeholders and operating teams.
  • Define an end-to-end homeowner experience across customer care, payments, field service, and monitoring.
  • Inventory inherited consumer applications, assess usage, operating cost, and risk, and decide whether to sustain, migrate, consolidate, or retire each application.
  • Plan and lead customer migrations, including account and credential continuity, payment-method and autopay transfers, communications, app store listing and release management, and sunset dates.
  • Evaluate build, buy, and partner options for the target platform and document recommendations, rationale, and operating costs.
  • Deliver customer-care self-service capabilities, including account management, case creation and status, knowledge, guided troubleshooting, and agent handoff.
  • Deliver bill-payment and billing-transparency capabilities, including invoices, payment methods, autopay, payment plans, and delinquency communications.
  • Deliver end-to-end field service requests, including scheduling, technician tracking, and resolution, integrated with Field Service and Salesforce teams.
  • Define independent monitoring for homeowners’ generation and storage assets with Fleet Telemetry, including accurate production, system health, and alerts independent of any single OEM portal.
  • Define and own product metrics, including active users, migration, self-service resolution and call deflection, on-time payment and autopay adoption, field-service completion, app rating, crash-free sessions, and cost to serve.
  • Instrument features before launch, run experiments, and report realized value after release.
  • Conduct ongoing discovery with homeowners, customer care agents, and field technicians, and use evidence to guide prioritization.
  • Coordinate across Customer Care, Servicing and Collections, Field Service Operations, Fleet Telemetry, Engineering, Design, Legal and Compliance, and external vendors.
  • Ensure products address relevant consumer-servicing obligations, including PCI-DSS, consumer privacy and consent, accessibility, FDCPA and UDAAP considerations, and app store policies.
  • Write build-ready requirements, own launch readiness—including data migration, testing, support training, and adoption—and communicate trade-offs to audiences ranging from care agents to executives.
